Talkative peeps needed for our BBC listening project

BBC listening project

We’ve started recording conversations for the BBC listening project and we’re looking for more Islanders who’re willing to share a tale or two over a nice cup a’ tea (other beverages available).

The Listening Project is an ambitious new partnership between BBC Radio 4, BBC local and national radio stations, and the British Library.

Capturing the nation in conversation

Here’s what the BBC say…

We are asking people up and down the country to share an intimate conversation with a close friend or relative, to help to build a unique picture of our lives today. Some of these conversations will be broadcast across BBC radio and archived by the British Library, preserving them for future generations.

Talkative volunteers needed

Have you got a story to tell? Do you have a friend and can you spare an hour to meet us?
We’re recording at Ventnor Community Cafe most Saturday mornings, so why not pop in?
Drop us a line or contact us in the comments section below.

Ventnor Bat Hospital

Could you love a Bat? Well they are just small cuddly little mousy things with wings and teeth. If you have seen them winging their way about at dusk you should know that all they are really after are small insects in the air and not to tangle themselves in your hair or do something nasty to you while you are asleep! See the pictures of how small they are and how they are lovingly looked after at this local bat refuge.

The Isle of Wight Cats Protection League in Ryde

Lots of poor pussies in Ryde it seems, and they end up here at the Cats centre on the Isle of Wight. We take a look at the furry selection and cuddle up to one or two. These appealing animals are also looking for homes. So if you’ve got a flat and need a cat or a house that has a mouse . This is the place !
